Matt Pond — “Love To Get Used”
No stranger to the world of indie rock, Matt Pond (formerly Matt Pond PA) released his latest and first solo album, The Lives Inside the Lines in Your Hand on February 5th, 2013. Layers of effortless instrumentals and airy vocals craft the record’s soundscape while punches of pop can found in songs such as the single “Love To Get Used.” You can stream his new album in its entirety here via Paste Magazine (make sure to check out “When the Moon Brings the Silver” - it’s stuck in my head right now). Grab these excellent tunes on iTunes. Also, catch him on his tour.

fthrsn-middle school dance
Remember those awkward few years called middle school? Now that I’m well past that stage, all I can do now is laugh about it whenever memories come to mind but if you rewind things to a decade ago, there I was with huge coke bottle glasses, listening to Linkin Park, wearing whatever my mom picked out for me, and trying to figure out how to even begin to talk to girls. For the sake of all of those nostalgic moments, Ann Arbor’s fthrsn has given us middle school swag, his latest release via Michigan collective GRL MTN. I love an album that I can relate to because it just makes the experience that much more joyous and the great thing about middle school swag is that there’s something on here for everyone. At it’s core these are seven pop drenched tracks about love, shyness, friendship, and trying to find even a small part of who we are while in the midst of change and throughout each one, fthrsn charmingly croons his way to our hearts on top of bedroom produced beats, glittering synths, and vivacious electronics that all help to make the trip down memory lane that much fonder. Middle School Swag is available over on bandcamp for $3 along with other material, which is up for various prices, and if you want to snag a cassette copy then look for a limited edition of 100 to be released soon via GRL MTN.

Monsieur Adi does it again! With an amazing string arrangement and the incredible vocals of Miss Mvula this song/remix is definitely one to download and play when you want to seem cultured.
Let me know what you think because this is my first time hearing Mvula and I’m a little sad I didn’t find her sooner.
